Court House Clock!

Last updated August 21, 2010

Old Clock
This photo is of the old clock and bell that resided at the courthouse in Winona for almost 80 years.  The clock was built in 1856 and bought by the city of Winona in 1903.  When the courthouse was demolished in 1976 the bell was sold to a business man in Green Bay, Wisconsin where it now sits atop an abandoned shopping mall.

The Winona Historical Preservation Commission is currently negotiating with the city of Green Bay to buy this bell back.  If interested you can request further information or send donations to 617 Middleton Road, Winona, Mississippi  38967.

** UPDATE **

The clock tower is now HOME in Winona! . The 30 foot clock tower which sat in the Port Plaza Mall in Green Bay, Wisconsin arrived home via Fedex (shipping donated) on July 19th, 2010.

Port Plaza Clock Tower

It began its move on June 18, 2010 when it was loaded in Green Bay.

I have recently purchased a picture postcard from the late 1940's/early 1950's of the Winona Court House and the clock tower as it stood and as soon as I can get it scanned will get it posted here!
